Graveyard File Service Operator

PURPOSE:

A Graveyard, File Services Operator (FSO) will be responsible for fulfilling assigned tape and digital media-based servicing requests. The service requests will require the operator to demonstrate competency in the use of industry standard tape machines, computer hardware, and a variety of editing and compositing solutions in order to be able to deliver a quality product to satisfy or exceed the client service request expectations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Must be able to read and understand the service requests detailed on the Work Orders (W.O.) and reach out to the managers and CSRs in a timely fashion when any aspect of the requested service is unclear.

· Must be able to confidently evaluate service requests and provide a reasonable estimate of the time that will be required to fulfil the service request.

· Must reach out to other FSOs or members of the production team to provide detailed "hand-off" instructions that will ensure that service requests are still fulfilled by the expected delivery time.

· Understanding the client staging, production, and library folders structures on the servers and their associated retention policies in order to inform decisions to move, copy or leave assets on the different storage servers to avoid accidental deletions.

· Will be required to multi-task and change production priorities on request from the managers and / or the Customer Service Representatives (C.S.Rs).

· Understanding of basic audio and video terminology describing the different types of source assets and deliverable end products as well as the associated workflows and processes offered by the company.

· Must be able to synchronize, manipulate, process and merge various audio, video, and captioning assets to create a final encoded media file, in conformance to the desired client specifications.

· Will be required to setup video, audio, and control routing to be able to setup various types of tape decks for digitize and layoff tasks.

· The encoding room is a collaborative environment in which we expect all encoders to offer help to other team members that might need it, as well as reach out to the managers when they've completed all of their assigned jobs.

· All communications to co-workers must always be polite and professional, and must demonstrate a high degree of tact.

· Must adhere to all company policies and procedures.

· And other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:

· Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Digital Rapids, Vantage, Rhozet, Adobe After Effects, Black Magic DaVinci Resolve, and other solutions

· HDCAM SR, Digital BetaCAM, BetaCAM SP, DVCAM, D1, D2, D3, 1", DVD, VHS, Hi8, ¾

FOTOKEM SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS

· PATH system to find files across multiple production storage servers.

· Vault System to find and keep track of physical assets.

· Media Q production hub to track the progress and completion of the W.O.s parts that are currently being worked on by the production team.

· The Wanding system that allows to check in/out W.O. print outs as well as physical assets from different departments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift and or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The position is currently designated as remote. The company reserves the right to modify the work location in the future based on business needs, which may include a requirement to work from a designated worksite. This is a Project Based Position.

The shift is from Monday through Friday from 9pm to 5:30am.

The responsibility and duties of the File Service Operator are not limited to the above and may include other duties as required.
