Summary of Position:

The Senior Mechanical Engineering Designer (Refrigeration) will be responsible for the design and modeling of refrigeration systems and associated controls systems under the guidance of Refrigeration Engineers/Project Managers. Scope of design to include: load calculations, component sizing and selection, refrigerant piping system design, controls system schematics, code review, and submittal review. As part of a multi-disciplined firm, you will be coordinating with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects and Construction Project Managers. You will be responsible for the production of refrigeration engineering construction documents while adhering to client requirements, code requirements, and site.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site investigations and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Conduct site feasibility research and site visit investigations. Generate reports and recommendations based on findings.
  • Produce design plans, calculations, and reports with limited direction.
  • Assist in coordinating the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design development and contract document phases of a project.
  • Interact directly with clients, providing support and technical guidance.
  • Coordinate and assist with addendums, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Organize and maintain project files.
  • Maintain documentation for billable hours.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of basis of design.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of codes.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and technical leadership for refrigeration staff

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or related discipline) required.
  • Engineer In Training (E.I.T) preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in refrigeration system design and preparation of construction documents, preferably for commercial projects such as retail grocery supermarkets or cold storage facilities.
  • Experience in refrigeration equipment selection and sizing (compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, pressure-regulating valves).
  • Knowledge of refrigeration piping design (sizing and layout).
  • Thorough understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office Suite.

Team:

You will work with a team of Designers and Engineers to support our retail clients.

Work Location:

This role can either be a hybrid position out of any CSG office or a remote position, depending on experience. Travel is expected for this role for on-site survey visits.
