Duties

  • Manage and coordinate the complete payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and reconciliation using payroll software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to payroll, benefits administration, and tax obligations to maintain accuracy
  • Oversee benefits administration processes related to payroll deductions and employee benefits programs
  • Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate employee data management within HRIS systems like PeopleSoft or Kronos
  • Prepare detailed reports on payroll expenses, tax filings, and audit documentation for internal review and external audits
  • Maintain meticulous records of journal entries, account reconciliations, and payroll transactions in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Ceridian
  • Lead efforts to improve payroll workflows through automation and process enhancements while ensuring data integrity
  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions related to employee reimbursements or vendor payments involving payroll-related transactions

Skills

  • Extensive experience with payroll management systems including Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft or Ceridian
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
  • Proficiency in financial software like QuickBooks along with expertise in data entry and bookkeeping practices
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting is a plus
  • Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll taxes and experience preparing tax filings
  • Excellent analysis skills for reviewing payroll reports, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions
  • Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately using 10 key typing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with HR teams and external auditors
  • Technical proficiency in HRIS systems (Human Resources Information Systems), accounting software, and financial concepts
