Duties
- Manage and coordinate the complete payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and reconciliation using payroll software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements
- Reconcile general ledger accounts related to payroll, benefits administration, and tax obligations to maintain accuracy
- Oversee benefits administration processes related to payroll deductions and employee benefits programs
- Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate employee data management within HRIS systems like PeopleSoft or Kronos
- Prepare detailed reports on payroll expenses, tax filings, and audit documentation for internal review and external audits
- Maintain meticulous records of journal entries, account reconciliations, and payroll transactions in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Ceridian
- Lead efforts to improve payroll workflows through automation and process enhancements while ensuring data integrity
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions related to employee reimbursements or vendor payments involving payroll-related transactions
Skills
- Extensive experience with payroll management systems including Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft or Ceridian
- Strong understanding of accounting principles such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
- Proficiency in financial software like QuickBooks along with expertise in data entry and bookkeeping practices
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting is a plus
- Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll taxes and experience preparing tax filings
- Excellent analysis skills for reviewing payroll reports, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions
- Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately using 10 key typing skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with HR teams and external auditors
- Technical proficiency in HRIS systems (Human Resources Information Systems), accounting software, and financial concepts
