Houston Legal Aid Center (HLAC) is a Christ-centered legal ministry dedicated to providing

compassionate and high-quality legal services to vulnerable communities. Since 2017, we have

maintained a deeply rooted presence at the Faith Center, located in one of the nation's key refugee hubs.

Our longstanding partnerships with local churches have created fertile ground for outreach, advocacy, and

gospel-centered impact.

Position Summary
HLAC is seeking a full-time or part-time
Licensed Immigration Attorney
to lead and expand our

immigration legal ministry at Faith Center. This role requires a visionary legal advocate who is passionate

about both legal justice and the Gospel, and who sees the Faith Center as a mission base for Christ.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality immigration legal services to clients, including consultations, legal representation, and case management.
  • Develop and expand the immigration program at Faith Center in collaboration with HLAC

leadership and local church partners.

  • Engage and mobilize churches and church plants in the Houston area to participate in outreach

and support services.

  • Conduct legal research and draft immigration documents with excellence and accuracy.
  • Build and sustain relationships with community partners, donors, and potential funders to support

and grow the work financially.

  • Represent HLAC's mission by integrating faith into service, praying with clients, and actively

sharing the gospel where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction (Texas licensure not required).
  • Authorized and eligible to practice immigration law under federal guidelines.
  • Passionate about ministry and called to use legal training as a tool for the gospel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or other refugee languages) strongly preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated with initiative to build and lead programs.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic, ministry-centered environment.
  • Strong online research and document drafting skills.
  • Willingness to develop or apply fundraising skills to support the program and its growth.
