Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial advisory services or capital readiness consulting for small businesses or entrepreneurs.
  • Proven track record in loan readiness assessment, financial documentation support, credit analysis, and strategic capital planning.
  • Hands-on experience in preparing financial statements, developing capital access strategies, and setting up QuickBooks Online.
  • Familiarity with LivePlan or equivalent forecasting tools to create 3- to 5-year financial projections.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and coaching skills with the ability to deliver client-focused financial solutions and maintain data confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting SEDI (Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals) and VSB (Very Small Business) clients in accessing capital and improving financial readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary financial advisor for the University of Maryland's SSBCI Capital Readiness initiative, supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners to become investment-ready.
  • Conduct financial reviews and banking assessments to help clients establish or optimize business banking relationships and document improvements made.
  • Perform loan readiness evaluations by analyzing financial statements, business plans, and projections; develop tailored capital access strategies to enhance loan eligibility.
  • Support clients in organizing loan documentation for SSBCI programs, SBA lenders, or CDFIs and facilitate submission of applications.
  • Conduct capital access and resource identification, matching clients with funding sources based on eligibility and readiness; maintain logs and outcome records in NeoSerra CRM.
  • Develop financial packages and investment memos, including projections, executive summaries, and funding strategies aligned with SSBCI goals.
  • Provide business and personal credit advisory, designing step-by-step plans for credit improvement and tracking progress through monthly updates.
  • Guide entrepreneurs in creating 3–5 year financial projections using LivePlan or similar tools, integrating cost, revenue, and cash-flow assumptions.
  • Perform financial statement creation and QuickBooks Online setup, customizing chart of accounts and conducting client training sessions.
  • Submit monthly status updates and client progress reports to the University via NeoSerra CRM and ensure compliance with data protection requirements.
