Job Summary

Urban Neighborhood Initiatives (UNI) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented team member to join our growing Impact & Improvement Department. The Data Systems & Salesforce Support Specialist will ensure the accuracy and organization of UNI's data systems, including Salesforce and This position will support data entry, data cleaning, and database maintenance while learning Salesforce administration and workflow management.

The ideal candidate is organized, tech-curious, and eager to learn how data systems can strengthen youth programs and organizational impact. This is an entry-level role with structured training and mentorship to develop technical and administrative capacity over time.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Data Entry & Quality Assurance
  • Enter and update participant, program, and attendance data in Salesforce and related systems.
  • Conduct regular data reviews to identify and resolve errors, duplicates, and missing information.
  • Assist in organizing and importing data from spreadsheets, forms, and surveys.
  • Maintain consistent file naming conventions and documentation practices.

  • Salesforce Administration Support

  • Learn Salesforce fundamentals through guided training and Salesforce Trailhead.
  • Support maintenance of Salesforce objects, fields, page layouts, and reports under supervision.
  • Test and document automations, flows, and data collection tools designed by the Impact & Improvement Coordinator.
  • Provide first-line support to staff for Salesforce navigation, record entry, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of UNI's Salesforce configuration and workflows.

  • Workflow Management

  • Build familiarity with boards, automations, and integrations.
  • Support maintenance of Monday boards used for program calendars, data dashboards, and task tracking.
  • Assist with developing connections between and Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with the Impact & Improvement Coordinator to improve workflow efficiency and data consistency between systems.

  • Reporting & Evaluation Support

  • Maintain Salesforce and Monday dashboards for program staff and supervisors.
  • Support data collection for grant reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Assist with preparing clean data sets for visualization and analysis.

  • Training & Documentation

  • Help maintain data dictionaries, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
  • Participate in staff trainings on data systems and contribute feedback on usability.
  • Attend regular Impact & Improvement team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1–2 years of data entry, administrative, or clerical experience (internships or volunteer work accepted).
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Comfort working in spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel).

  • Professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.

Preferred

  • Basic familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems or databases.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, education, or youth development setting.
  • Curiosity about user experience (UX), systems flow, and how staff interact with data systems.
  • Interest in how organizations use data for decision-making, process improvement, and program design.
  • Enthusiasm for exploring tools that make data more accessible and actionable (e.g., dashboards, automations, or integrated workflows).
  • Familiarity with process automation or integration tools (Zapier, Make, or native connectors).

Training & Professional Development

  • UNI will provide structured Salesforce training through Trailhead and guided learning modules.
  • Dedicated weekly learning time will be allocated for Salesforce skill development.
  • The specialist will receive mentorship from the Impact & Improvement Coordinator.
  • Goal: Achieve foundational Salesforce competency within 6 months and progress toward Salesforce Administrator Certification within 12–18 months (training supported by UNI).
