Your Role on the TeamPosition Summary:
The incumbent is directly responsible for all technical, administrative and supervisory functions of a highly specialized and technically complex laboratory division operating across multiple shifts. This role includes direct supervision of CLS Supervisors and overall accountability for day-to-day laboratory operations to ensure high-quality testing, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The incumbent also manages the pre-analytical phase of laboratory services, including phlebotomy, laboratory technicians, and specimen processing workflows, ensuring accurate and timely collection, labelling, transport, and data entry of specimens. The Lab Manager plays a key role in developing and executing business development strategies aligned with organizational goals, with particular focus on expanding Pathology and Clinical Medicine services. The position required the ability to effectively manage and coordinate operations across multiple hospital sites, promoting standardization and consistency. The Lab Manager is expected to perform bench testing as needed.
What It Takes to be SuccessfulRequired Qualifications:
- Three or more years applicable experience
- Prior experience in supervision
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required
- Must be willing to testify in court regarding testing activities if subpoenaed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Current CA CLS License
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
