We're seeking a sharp legal assistant for our busy law firm who can help our attorneys and paralegals assist clients and keep the office running smoothly. You'll work with the team to prepare a variety of legal documents, and handle office correspondence like answering emails and phone calls, scheduling meetings and travel, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines. This is an in-office position located in Kansas City, MO.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation: Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents and client correspondence.
  • Research: Conduct legal research and summarize findings to support case strategies.
  • Organization: Maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • File Documents: Prepare and file documents with courts and other relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with legal procedures.
  • Maintain Calendars: Schedule appointments, meetings, and client site visits, managing attorneys' calendars effectively.
  • Communicate: Communication with clients and experts, providing updates, and gathering necessary information.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in handling sensitive information.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with legal software, litigation case management, and docketing programs
  • 1-2 years of prior experience in a law firm environment as a secretary or administrative assistant
  • Organizational skills and communication skills are necessary for this position
  • Candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute
  • Proficient with MS Office products
