Domestic Violence Counselor

What You'll Do
As a Domestic Violence Counselor with HELP ROADS, you'll be a critical member of a comprehensive, non-residential individual and family safety program providing a variety of services designed to assist survivors of gender-based violence and their families. You'll report to the program's Executive Director to support families in achieving safety and long-term stability, and address the effects of abuse, neglect, and trauma.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Have experience counseling with gender-based violence survivors.
- Facilitating psycho-educational individual and group sessions.
- Utilized cultural humility and awareness to support ROADS diverse survivors.
- Have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field.
You're a great fit for this role if you have:
- Experience (at least one year) providing counseling and supportive services to domestic violence survivors and their families.
- Experience with operating a survivor support hotline.
- Experience with and understanding of NYC housing policies and vouchers.
- Experience facilitating support groups and workshops.
- Knowledge in the modalities of strength-based empowerment.
It would be helpful (but not required) if you have:
- Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish), as many of our clients are native Spanish speakers.
Compensation
Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage, prevailing wage, or exempt salary requirements under federal, state and local laws.
