Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Block Shift Direct Support Providers to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential care and support to the people with support with developmental disabilities by assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, assisting with programming needs and promoting independence while fostering a respectful and caring community while supporting residents' physical and emotional well-being.
The schedule for this full time 32 hour Block position would be Thursday 7 a.m. through Friday 11 p.m. Staff are required to remain on site throughout the entirety of the block shift.
Duties . Candidates who have experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or home care, and possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse populations are successful in this role.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration following prescribed protocols and maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems
- Support residents with memory care needs such as autism, or other disabilities through personalized care plans and behavior management strategies
- Monitor vital signs and observe health changes; report findings to healthcare professionals as needed
- Prepare meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols such as HIPAA compliance
- Drive residents to appointments or outings when required, ensuring safety during transportation
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Implement conflict management techniques to resolve behavioral issues compassionately
- Follow care plans meticulously while adapting to individual needs; participate in case management meetings for ongoing resident support
Qualifications
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home, home care, or working with people with developmental disabilities is helpful but not a requirement
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, autism support, hospice care, or senior care is highly desirable
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is advantageous; willingness to obtain if not already certified
- Strong conflict management skills and ability to handle challenging behaviors with patience and professionalism
- Excellent communication skills; compassionate attitude towards residents of all ages with diverse needs
- Ability to work flexible hours including night shifts on a block schedule; reliable attendance required
Full time benefits for this position would begin after the initial probationary period and would include: mileage reimbursement, paid training, family dental insurance, family vision insurance, life insurance, 4o1k, 401k match, PTO, bonuses and more.
