We have an immediate need for a Program Manager position in the Greater Pittsburgh region. With a focus on leading direct services for GIGP's three main programs, fostering a supportive, girl-centered environment while helping to develop critical skills in leadership, self-confidence, and academic success, this full-time, non-exempt position plays a key role in delivering high-quality programming. The salary range for the Program Manager role is $50,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience. The Program Manager is eligible to participate in GIGP's benefits package, which includes a retirement savings plan and generous paid time off.
What we're looking for
Reporting to the Associate Program Director of Elementary Programs' role, the Program Manager is an essential member of the GIGP Team with hands-on experience in facilitating elementary and middle school programs. The Program Manager delivers high-quality, impactful programming, helping girls to achieve their full potential and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to think critically, and enjoys working in an environment that is mission-focused, results-driven, and community-oriented.
Given that this role will work in a hybrid work model and report one to two days per week in the office, only candidates who are based within commuting distance of the GIGP office will be given consideration.
What you'll be doing
The primary responsibilities and duties of the Program Manager position include the following essential functions:
Community Engagement (80%)
- Assist with all program kickoff activities (Elementary, Middle, and Eureka Summer programming), including but not limited to, the oversight of recruitment of volunteers from college campuses and the community, to ensure they are effectively integrated into mentorship and outreach initiatives.
- Develop Supplemental Training Series that further equips mentors to develop their skills in Girls Inc. programming.
- Serve as a mentor coach by facilitating mentorship connections, coordinating Mentor Summit, and providing ongoing support to mentors and mentees.
- Interested in and available for back-to-school events, activity fairs, or field trips.
- Has the ability to assist Girls Inc. data collection initiatives as needed, including but not limited to site visit assistance and pre- and post-survey collection.
- Lead planning, material preparation, and communication for each event, including Mentor Summit, Jump Into Spring, Mentor Rec., End of Summer Eureka Bash.
- Support staff in implementing curriculum with fidelity while adapting activities to meet the diverse needs of youth.
Program Quality Assurance (20%)
Elementary Program Responsibilities
- Support Chapters with on-site support that are struggling with recruitment and retention.
- Send out a monthly newsletter to mentors and families.
- Attend field trips and other site observations per semester.
- Address concerns, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure each site maintains a safe and welcoming environment.
Middle School Program Responsibilities
- Assist MEL department with any additional research and attend specific events to recruit for GIGP to grow the middle school program.
- Speak to parents and guardians to advertise Girls Inc.
- Plan and support any additional field trip opportunities for middle schoolers, at least 1 additional field trip per semester for all MS sites.
Eureka Summer Programming (mid-June - July annually)
- Help to plan summer programming for girls in grades 8th grade to 12th grade for the 3-week GIGP Eureka program.
- Be the main facilitator of the Eureka curriculum and on-the-ground for the program, with additional support from GIGP program counselors.
What you'll bring along
Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of three years of experience (the equivalent years of education may be considered for substitution) working with youth, particularly in the elementary school and/or middle school systems. Additional experience managing young adults is preferred but not required.
Other Required Qualifications: To be optimally successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Strong facilitation and classroom management skills with the ability to engage students in meaningful discussions and activities.
- Passion for youth development and a deep commitment to gender equity and social justice.
- Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Independent self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Availability for some evening and weekend programming as needed.
- Strong sense of sound judgment paired with integrity.
- Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications.
