JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Platform Delivery - Engineering

REPORTS TO: Director, Mechanical Engineering

Summary: This individual will support the engineering team on Aligned's technical topics and matters and will work directly with the internal and external design teams to ensure technical compliance.  As a technical contributor, this individual will play a crucial role in a wide variety of responsibilities ranging from early-stage design direction, to validating installed conditions, to yearly site assessments, and evaluating next level technologies.  Working cross functionally, this individual will raise Aligned's technical capabilities and enhance performance across multiple work streams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design:
    • Review and support mechanical technical standards and updates.
    • Review and support for each phase of design deliverables.
    • Lead or assist content preparation and presentation to achieve business approvals.
    • Support conceptual/directional design decisions at inception.
    • Review and support for major equipment product commitments.
  • Execution:
    • Review and support for commissioning scripts and procedures.
    • Review and support for critical MOP's.
    • Review and support for commissioning reports.
    • Assist with technical investigations and problem solving.
  • Reliability:
    • Technical support for site performance shortfalls, failures, and issue resolution.
  • Forward vision:
    • Involvement within industry and vendor interaction to be aware of industry leading technologies.
    • Collaborate with customer technical needs to ensure Aligned is aware and keeping pace with industry technical developments.
    • Lead technical review and validation of new technologies.
    • Technical leadership in understanding and evaluating sustainable practices.
  • Communications:
    • Participation in discussions, written and verbal, with Aligned senior leadership and Board of Directors. 
    • Individual should be able to communicate complex topics to work groups of varying technical experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center or mission critical electrical and mechanical design, construction, and operations
  • PE License in the Mechanical field preferred
  • AutoCAD or Revit experience
  • SME with interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications
  • Ability to understand construction project scopes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience troubleshooting technical problems during startup and commissioning preferred
  • Background in performing and analyzing buildings using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models
  • May travel at times up to 25%
