Position Summary
The Broadcast Support Engineer – Live Highlights & Content Lead will provide hands-on technical support for the NBA's live production and streaming operations, with a primary focus on EVS highlight systems, live highlights workflows, and end-to-end streaming delivery. This role will support mission-critical broadcast environments across studio, remote, and digital platforms, ensuring reliable capture, replay, and distribution of live content to partners and NBATV.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and engineering support for EVS replay systems and related technologies supporting live highlights creation, ingest, and playout.
  • Oversee configuration and lifecycle management of EVS servers, IPDirectors, XTAccess, XFiles/XFile3, and associated tools to ensure resilient, scalable, and future-ready broadcast and digital workflows.
  • Support live clipping, file transfer, transcode, and metadata workflows for highlights distribution to[CC1] broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Lead real-time troubleshooting escalation and decision-making during live events, ensuring continuity of broadcast and digital distribution.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth delivery of live highlights to broadcast partners, NBA platforms, and global digital endpoints.
  • Maintain and support IP-based broadcast and streaming systems, including encoders, transcoders, and contribution/distribution workflows.
  • Assist with system upgrades, configuration management, and integration of new technologies into existing workflows.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, workflows, and SOPs.
  • Develop and lead training programs for operators, engineers, and end users to maximize system adoption and operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, providing emergency technical support during live events.

Required Education/Professional Experience

  • 8–10 years of technical engineering experience in live broadcast, sports production, or streaming operations.
  • College degree in Communications/Engineering or related field required.
  • In lieu, a college degree significant field experience will be considered.

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes

  • Hands-on experience with EVS systems (XT-VIA, XT3/XT4K, IPDirector, XTAccess, XFile, or related).
  • Strong background in broadcast engineering, including video routing, signal transport, and delivery infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of live production workflows, including replay, highlights, and content distribution.
  • Advanced knowledge of video compression, video over IP, and Software Defined Video Networks.
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies (encoders, transcoders, etc.).

Salary Range
$135,000 - $170,000
