Steptoe LLP ("Steptoe") is seeking an experienced litigator with a minimum of 5 years of experience for a Staff Attorney position in its Houston office. The Staff Attorney will primarily work on commercial litigation matters, under the supervision of Partners in the Commercial Trials and Litigation Group.

The Staff Attorney's responsibilities will include being an integral part of litigation teams; legal research and writing; drafting pleadings and motions; document review; written discovery and motion practice; reviewing litigation correspondence and pleadings and reporting time-sensitive issues to the Partner in charge; managing litigation calendar and ensuring all deadlines are met; ; assisting with settlement and mediations; communicating with opposing counsel; and assisting with preparation of memos and updates to clients. Trial work is not expected although court appearances may occasionally be required.

Candidates should have strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills. Must have painstaking attention to detail, be capable of multitasking, and be comfortable dealing with opposing counsel. This position offers a regular, stable schedule. This position will have a hybrid work schedule with some days in office and some working remotely. This is not a partnership track position.

A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required. Texas bar membership, active and in good standing, is also required. For consideration, please submit cover letter, resume, law school transcript, and writing sample.

We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits in a collegial working environment that provides training and mentorship. The anticipated salary range is $160,000 to $170,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
