Job Summary:
We are seeking a customer-focused team member who is excited about finding solutions to customer needs and capable of learning new skills. Be a part of a team focused on working together to provide an outstanding customer and paint sales experience. The Paint Department Sales Specialist is responsible for engaging and assisting customers in our paint department. This includes but is not limited to, sharing knowledge of paint, textures and textiles, and home furnishing solutions as well as merchandising, maintaining, and stocking products that are focused on growing the business through visual impressions and creativity. The Paint Department Sales Specialist will also be responsible for growing the sales of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as other team members.
- Build relationships, generate sales which includes new accounts and new business both inside and outside the store.
- Help create the best paint department experience, as possible, for the both the DIY homeowner and the commercial painter.
- Develop and implement a sales plan which will require making phone calls, setting meetings and outside sales calls.
- Possess strong paint product knowledge and sundries including interior and exterior paint, primers, applicators, interior and exterior wood finishes, adhesives, surface preparation, and patch and repair. Plus knowledge of the other departments within the hardware store and location of products.
- Execute the daily operational, daily goals and priorities assigned by store management.
- Ensure the paint department is performing on weekly sales goals to the expectation of store manager and owners.
- Ability to mix paint using manual and auto tinters and paint mixing software. Ensure all custom-mixed product is correct and maintain high quality control to minimize mis-tints.
- Dedication to maintain consistent and accurate customer files.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory counts, color collateral, overstock and receive inventory orders and restock paint, sundries and other departments throught the hardware store.
- Train other employees on Benjamin Moore full line of product and all other products within the department as well as how to properly operate all equipment within the department.
- Willingness to work in other departments in the store and help customers in other areas of the stores with products and or services that the store provides when there isn't a customer in the paint department.
- Be professional in appearance and actions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Paint knowledge, retail, and customer service experience are preferred but not necessary.
- Excited to work in a fast-paced environment that changes often.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks at one time.
- Able to lift 50 lbs, and able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
- Able to work a flexible schedule to support business needs, including nights and weekends.
