SUMMARY

This is an administrative position assigned to provide case management responsibilities for delinquency cases in Juvenile Court. The position is also responsible for expanding prevention and intervention services to court-involved youth and their families. Additional responsibilities include working towards reducing recidivism by identifying and linking resources, delinquency related programming, crossover case management, working on and assisting with initiatives and protocols and maintaining data and producing statistical reports. The Juvenile Court Case Manager works under the direct supervision of the Juvenile Court Director and work is reviewed through regular meetings and monthly reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and coordination of multiple programs and procedures within the Juvenile Division
  • Manages projects of responsibility in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations
  • Presents at Juvenile Education Clinics on topics relevant to the juvenile justice population
  • Researches, collects, and analyzes data and statistical reports related to Juvenile Court Operations
  • Identifies and maintains resources and community service opportunities for Juvenile Court
  • Coordination of crossover case management protocols and activities
  • Conducts research to compile and analyze literature on evidence based juvenile programs, best practices and model programs both statewide and nationally; assists in the implementation of programs resulting from such research
  • Attends and/or conducts committee, community board, agency and other professional meetings to exchange information as needed; attends technical or professional workshops or seminars to improve professional skills
  • Other duties assigned by the Juvenile Court Director, Judges, or Chief Deputy Court Administrator

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science or closely related field and two (2) years of experience working in a business or court setting.

Relevant experience and/or education may substitute for the recommended minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Florida juvenile court proceedings
  • Knowledge of principles of public, business or personnel administration
  • Knowledge of court processes, legal terminology, juvenile court procedures including dependency
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to research, recommend and implement improvements to court operations, programs and services·
  • Ability to analyze statistical data concerning court management and case loads
  • Ability to prepare and present comprehensive reports to a variety of individuals including judges, state court system managers, elected county officials and other law enforcement officials
  • Ability to perform work involving the application of logical principles and thinking to solve practical problems within or applying to a unit or division of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to work within deadlines to complete projects and assignments
  • Ability to use processing, spreadsheets, and database software applications
  • Ability to work independently and establish work priorities
  • Ability to work in a paperless/fileless system
  • Ability to prioritize work and communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive issues before the court
  • Ability to interpret, explain and apply laws, rules, policies and procedures
