This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC four (4) days per week, at minimum.The RoleTo strengthen our Motorsports program, we are seeking anApplied Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Operations Engineerto support the integration and use of GM's simulation toolchain within NASCAR race teams. This role focuses on delivering engineering support that drives measurable on-track performance improvements. The engineer will collaborate with race teams and GM engineers to conduct analysis using offline simulation tools and Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) simulators. Responsibilities include supporting tool usage and training, gathering team feedback for simulation development, refining vehicle modeling inputs, improving simulation correlation through test rig data, and conducting vehicle dynamics studies. The ideal candidate is proficient in engineering software, proactive in performance-related collaboration, and passionate about working with accurate, efficient simulation models.What You'll DoPlay a key role as a performance simulation support engineer embedded within a NASCAR Cup Series racing teamUse advanced analytics and GM tools to process and interpret test and simulation results, providing insight for performance optimization and simulation modeling, while improving model correlationBe part of the broader simulation support team seeking to continuously improve and investigate methods to utilize the simulation toolchain and increase race team performanceAssist teams with test plan development and execution using testing equipment, including SPMM/Kinematic rigs, 7-post test rigs, and push-up/down rigsProvide race teams expert knowledge in the simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practicesDuring at-track testing, when necessary, provide real-time support, including simulation model tuning based on setup adjustments and driver feedbackTroubleshoot simulation performance issues and recommend solutions during testing and competitionRepresent racing team needs as a stakeholder in the simulation toolchain development processClearly communicate technical data, results and recommendations to GM and race team membersWhat You'll Need (Required Qualifications)Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree5 or more years of highly validated experience using simulation or other vehicle dynamics-based modeling software within a professional motorsport organization, preferably in a prior race-engineering roleHighly analytical, customer focused, and structured, with positive relationship and strong communicative skillsExperience using data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, McLaren ATLASExposure to modern software development tooling and environments, preferably C#, Python and GitKnowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aero modeling techniquesStrong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact well with othersMust be a great teammate, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrityPassion for motorsports and strong understanding of vehicle dynamics engineeringAbility to multi-task in a multifaceted, constantly evolving environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrityThis job may be eligible for relocation benefitsTravel to team or GM tests may be required up to 15% of timeWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Master's degree in engineering, physics or related subjectKnowledge of using Dymola/Modelica in a simulation toolchainExposure to modern software development tooling and environments, preferably C# and GitPrior NASCAR Race Engineering experience – utilizing simulation toolsExperience working with DiL simulatorsThis role is categorized as hybrid.
