Responsibilities

  • This is an on site role 5 days per week
  • Works with business units and divisions to establish short- and long-term needs regarding the establishment of appropriate testing programs and the implementation of execution of these laboratory activities within the appropriate laboratories within the region or throughout multiple regions.
  • Works with Business Development and Primary Designated Engineers to identify and pursue the development of requirements for test procedures beyond the scope of existing standards and requirements involving unique features and requiring the use of independent judgment and working with other regional lab managers, determines the most effective location for the equipment and personnel to conduct the testing.
  • Establishes the measurement criteria for the test proficiency training program and directs the management of competencies for laboratory personnel based upon short- and long-term needs.
  • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring understanding and adherence to all policies.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and practices mandated for the laboratories to ensure compliance to ISO 17025 as well as other defined accreditation requirements for the designated laboratories.
  • Champions continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job utilizing the Lean Sigma approach.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • This role requires 10-25% travel

Qualifications

  • University degree in Electrical field or related field plus generally 10+ years of related experience including 6+ years of relevant, cross-functional management/leadership experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Proven ability to manage remote teams preferred
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies, build business plans where and when necessary and facilitate at public engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple department objectives, staffing and budgets.
  • Detailed knowledge of product testing methodologies; knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems preferred
  • Business and profit minded with related technical knowhow; competitive and profit-driven; re-invents competitive advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management for large scale build outs and major renovations to labs and facilities.
  • Adapts to changing circumstances, accepts new ideas and change initiatives, and deals effectively with ambiguity.

What we offer:

  • Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $144, ,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 20% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
