JOB SUMMARY:
Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans, instructing patients in exercises, monitoring their progress, and maintaining a safe and clean treatment environment, all under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients developed by Physical Therapist.
- Monitor patient progress and report findings to the supervising physical therapist.
- Assist patients with exercises, gait training and other therapeutic activities.
- Ability to exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence that allows success when working with a variety of patient and staff personalities.
- Provide both written and verbal communication in a timely manner to all departments within the rehab department to insure efficient work flow and accomplishment of work tasks.
- Professional communication with patients regarding scheduling appointments, plan of care, other needs and requirements.
- Administer treatment through manual and non-manual therapies such as exercise, ambulatory functions, ADL training, assistive devices.
- Ongoing evaluation of patient's therapy session and ability to provide effective recommendations, long term plan and treatment.
- Communication with referral sources in a confident, concise, and respectful manner to best coordinate care and develop collaborative relationships.
- Provide documentation of service to meet or exceed the standards of the companies' documentation compliance protocol.
- Completion of documentation in a timely manner hours) from the time of service.
- Insures maintenance of HIPPA compliance standards as well as confidentiality of clinic operations.
- Maintain OSHA guideline standards as trained from company standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: stand, walk, use hand and fingers, arms to reach or move patient, to talk and to hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently to lift or move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, labor relations and negotiations, and personnel information systems.
Skills:

Ability to utilize modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, paraffin, heat and cold therapy

Education and Experience:
Associate's degree from a PTA program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy.
