Join us The Lead Dietary Aide, or Nutrition Aide, is responsible for preparing and delivering healthy meals and ensuring that patients have the proper foods based on their needs. They work closely with Dietitians, providing them details on allergies or restrictions to create plans accordingly.
Prepare food according to instructions while adhering strictly to safety and health standards. Uses strong attention to detail for all meal preparation to ensure patients receive appropriate food and nutritional needs. Applies effective communication skills since they work directly with patients, Dietitians, and other medical professionals.
Dietary Aides work with patients to ensure they get the nutrition they need throughout the day. Guided by a lead Dietitian or Chef who oversees the distribution of food and drinks to patients throughout the shift.
In addition to standard nutrition services, the Lead Dietary Aide will also be accountable to providing training to other team members, assist in onboarding new hires, provide general work direction, and be a resource for questions from other team members.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food under the guidance of the Chef or Dietitian.
In addition to standard nutrition services, the Lead Dietary will also be accountable to providing training to other team members, assist in onboarding new hires, provide general work direction, and be a resource for questions from other team members.
Deliver dishes, trays, and designated times and rooms.
Assist in setting up and clearing up dining areas with attention to cleanliness and order Includes dish, tray, trash, leftover removals.
Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal / state regulations, and Senior Living / Healthcare requirements. Maintain cleanliness of prep items.
Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed.
Provide customer service and hospitality during nutrition delivery.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required Degree : High school diploma
Certificate(s):
Current Food Handler's Permit is required.
Training in Servsafe is beneficial.
Experience:
Desired is one (1) year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, basic food/meal prep is preferred.
Prior leadership (in work, school, or activities) or team lead experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written, English) with residents and staff.
Must be able to read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices.
Must be cordial and congenial with residents.
Must be dependable, detail oriented, organized, and have good follow through.
Must be able to work within standard policy and procedures, and work with limited direct supervision.
Must be able to handle various tasks and functions.
Must be able to react calmly in emergency situations.
Must show patience and compassion to senior adults.
Must be considerate of resident's comfort, safety, security, and belongings.
Demonstrate the ability to set and establish priorities.
Manages time efficiently.
Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner.
Maintains a well-groomed appearance that complies with organizational and State food code standards. Ability to adhere to dress code and kitchen uniform requirements.
Demonstrates knowledge of and understanding of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles.
Ability to work with all people and must have the ability to get along and socialize with them. This includes employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, other health care professionals and the community at large.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to lift or carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
Frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling / pushing, and extended periods walking and/or standing.
May be required to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel or crouch when performing job duties.
Must possess adequate sight and hearing to meet the responsibilities of this position.
Compensation Pay Range: $ $19.27 per hour
Reasonable Pay Estimate A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $ $19.27 per hour. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
