Three (3) Mentor Teachers - Resource - Herndon Consolidated Elementary and Middle School - OPEN

?January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026

$1,000 ($500 paid at end of each sememster)

Job Summary:

1. Complete mentor training programs provided by the Wyoming County Board of Education outside of regular instructional day

2. Schedule conference services with interns weekly (if possible)

3. Assists intern in a supervisory non-judgmental advisory capacity rather than evaluative role

4. Assists intern with instructional skills and strategies

5. Serves as a member of the intern support team

6. Keeps all interventions with and discussions regarding the intern confidential

Qualifications:

1. Must have a current West Virginia certificate and must be employed by Wyoming County Schools as a teacher or administrator

2. Must have at least five years experience as a classroom teacher

3. Must have completed the Policy 5100 Training Module for Mentors OR hold Mentor Certification, OR hold certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)

4. Must have "Accomplished" or higher as a summative performance rating on the West Virginia Educator Evaluation forms

5. Should teach at a grade level similar to that of the beginning teacher

6. Should teach a subject similar to that of the beginning teacher

7. Should teach in the same building as the beginning teacher
