As a support to overall marketing operations, the Sample Associate helps with sample board making activities. Tasks include supplying or holding tile, materials, and tools, cleaning the work area, and attending to other critical parts of the sample board cycle.

Essential Job Functions:

Duties and responsibilities are subject to change at any time due to reasonable accommodation or out of business necessity.

  1. Manually lifts raw materials (such as individual tile pieces) for placement on sample boards.

  2. Glue and/or grouts tile to sample board

  3. Counts and otherwise examines finished products to verify conformance with design & quality standards.

  4. Marks, tags, and/or labels tile identification on the sample board.

  5. Loads & unloads sample boards from work table to shipping containers.

  6. Records information as to number of sample boards created & dates/times of production.

Education, Training, Experience:

At a minimum, the Associate must have received basic skills training (equivalent to high school). This is an entry-level position that requires little experience (6 months of work experience is preferred).

Tools and Technology:

The Associate must be able to use small tools and glue to assemble the boards. The Associate will also be required to use hand cutters and wet saws to cut tile and stone.

Physical Requirements:

General work activities include frequent standing, handling and moving of heavy objects and materials (ceramic tile and natural stone) without assistance and the performance of general physical labor. Frequent lifting of individual pieces of tile (less than 10 pounds), with occasional lifting of more than 80 pounds. Proper sample placement and display work requires depth perception, visual focus & field, and color vision. Work is performed indoors in a warehouse that is not always environmentally controlled. The position includes occasional exposure to noise, dust, and adhesive products.

Additional physical requirements include:

  1. Standing for long periods

  2. Reaching

  3. Bending

  4. Stooping

  5. Communicating verbally (expression and listening)

  6. Using basic skills to read work and safety instructions and to record completion and quality information
