Overview

We are supporting a leading global biopharmaceutical organization in the build-out of its U.S. R&D presence and are seeking an accomplished neuroscience drug discovery leader to establish and grow a Cambridge-based research function. This individual will drive scientific strategy, portfolio development, and team expansion focused on innovative therapies for neurological diseases.

This is a senior scientific and strategic leadership role - ideal for an accomplished neuroscience executive who thrives in growth environments and enjoys both setting vision and rolling up their sleeves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead neuroscience drug discovery strategy and pipeline execution
  • Build and mentor a high-performing research team in Cambridge
  • Drive target selection, mechanistic biology, and early translational strategies
  • Oversee IND-enabling activities and transition programs into early clinical stages
  • Interface with global R&D, external partners, and academic collaborators
  • Represent scientific strategy in internal governance and external forums
  • Support evaluation of external innovation and partnership opportunities

Qualifications

  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Pharmacology, or related discipline
  • 12+ years' experience in neuroscience drug discovery within biotech/pharma
  • Proven track record advancing programs from discovery to early clinical development
  • Deep expertise in neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, synaptic biology, or related areas
  • Demonstrated success leading and scaling scientific teams
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on leadership style and strong communication skills
  • Experience in matrixed, global environments strongly preferred
  • Mandarin language capability strongly preferred (global collaboration component)
