Job Description:
As an NEMT Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, dialysis treatments, and other healthcare-related destinations. Your primary focus will be on providing reliable and comfortable transportation services to individuals who may have mobility challenges or medical needs that prevent them from using traditional modes of transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Assist patients with boarding and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the journey.
- Follow pre-established routes and schedules while adapting to changes as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and vehicle maintenance activities.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, healthcare providers, and patients to coordinate transportation logistics.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism and customer service, demonstrating empathy and respect towards all passengers.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and other safety measures to minimize health risks for passengers and yourself.
- Handle any unexpected situations or emergencies calmly and responsibly, prioritizing the well-being of passengers at all times.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in transportation, caregiving, or customer service roles preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations, including elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities.
- Compassionate demeanor and a genuine desire to assist others.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
- Basic knowledge of first aid procedures and emergency response protocols is desirable but not required.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screenings as required by state regulations.
- Healthy body capable of safely moving 200+ lbs wheelchair-bound passengers up and down ramps and walkways
