Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated entry-level or junior Associate Attorney (0–2 years experience) to join our immigration law practice. This role is ideal for a newly licensed attorney or recent bar passer who is passionate about immigrant rights and eager to gain hands-on litigation experience through close mentorship.

The Associate Attorney will work directly with the Supervising Attorney (12+ years of immigration experience) and represent both detained and non-detained clients in a variety of immigration matters.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court (EOIR)
  • Appear at master calendar and merits hearings
  • Conduct client intakes, including detention center visits
  • Prepare immigration applications and filings (removal defense, family-based, humanitarian relief)
  • Draft motions, briefs, and legal memoranda for USCIS, EOIR, and the BIA
  • Develop legal strategy and prepare clients for hearings and interviews
  • Conduct legal research on immigration law and policy
  • Participate in USCIS interviews and SIJS-related state court matters
  • Manage an active caseload with strong organization and attention to deadlines

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license (or pending admission with ability to work immediately)
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Fluency in Spanish required (spoken and written)
  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as needed
  • Commitment to immigrant advocacy and social justice

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
