Overview

Must have previous surgical prep and monitoring experience.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile fields, and providing animal restraint using animal handling techniques.
  • Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment including X-ray machines while maintaining aseptic technique to produce clear images for accurate diagnosis.
  • Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing dental cleanings or treatments under veterinarian supervision.
  • Support critical care cases by monitoring vital signs, administering treatments, and providing compassionate pet care in high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain detailed medical records, laboratory logs, and treatment documentation accurately following clinic protocols.
  • Support laboratory functions by collecting samples, preparing specimens, and understanding veterinary terminology related to diagnostics.
  • Participate in client education about pet care, including basic first aid and preventive health measures.

Skills

  • Proven experience with animals of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures such as blood draws or sample processing.
  • Expertise in animal restraint methods for safe examination or treatment procedures.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology relevant to veterinary dentistry procedures.
  • Competence in operating X-ray equipment safely for diagnostic imaging purposes.

Pay: $ $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
