Director of Academic Affairs

Medical Training Institute of New York is seeking a transformational leader to serve as Director of Academic Affairs. Medical Training Institute is one of the fastest-growing schools in the region and is home to three program areas: Medical/Healthcare school, school of Technology, and Language school. MTINY operates across two campuses (New York City, New York, and Orlando, Florida ). The Director of Academics is a full-time position.

This position will report to the school President and School Administrator, with day-to-day oversight/management by the School Director.

Full Job Description

The Director of Academic Affairs develops and maintains the academic integrity of Medical Training Institute of New York programs. The Director works with faculty, chairs, the School President, and the school Director to address the academic needs of the MTI campus and to ensure appropriate academic opportunities to enhance MTI student's overall educational experiences. The Director is responsible for the academic rigor of all programs and academic policies at MTI New York sites, working with the directors and faculty on-site to assess, train, and advise on academic matters and update them on MTINY academic policies and procedures. The Director will work with faculty, directors, and students on grade disputes and violations of the academic conduct code. In addition, the Director will be responsible for reviewing the curriculum on a regular basis, analyzing course evaluations, and providing feedback to the School Director. The Director is also responsible for oversight of academic issues at partner and exchange locations.

The successful candidate for this position will join the faculty, staff, students, and the broader academic community in guiding the Medical Training Institute of New York to new levels of achievement,

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures the MTI of New York programs have carefully designed curricula that align with market demands and deliver effective academic programs that provide students with a strong foundation for success.
  • Promotes and achieves student success and student satisfaction during and after school academic programs; collaborates with team leads to ensure the integration of language and content courses, acculturation, student support, and student success.
  • Works to maintain standards and best practices set by the major professional bodies for programs focusing on curriculum and student achievement standards.
  • Directs the accreditation application process for the MTI with appropriate accrediting agencies.
  • Facilitates program placement testing for all students, including Direct Entry.
  • Contributes to formulating the annual budget and regulating expenditures in the Medical Training Institute, monitoring the school's financial performance by efficiently managing teaching resources, including teaching hours, class sizes, and tutoring.
  • Develop opportunities for collaboration with key campus stakeholders, including academic departments, International Admissions (future), academic affairs, school Advising, and the division of Student Enrollment, Engagement, and Success.
  • Implements and monitors student enrollment, advising, progression, and retention processes and policies for MTI programs. It also ensures that systems and procedures are followed and accurate records and reports are maintained.
  • Analyzes reports on the progress and satisfaction of students' achievement of objectives, including progression through the program completion at MTINY.
  • Represents the MTI in various campus committees and/or task forces at the request of the School President.
  • Liaises with MTI NY staff and educational counselors regarding academic programs, student academic issues, special programs, training, and recruiting.
  • Coordinates and ensures follow-through of various faculties' hiring, orientation, evaluation, and performance.
  • Performs annual evaluations of direct reports as needed.
  • Serves as a role model for working with and advising students, maintaining collegial relationships and high professional standards in all matters.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree, Higher Education Leadership, Curriculum and Teaching, or closely related field required.
  • At least three years of teaching and/or academic administration experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, and motivate an academic team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Creative, passionate, quick thinking, driven by energy and enthusiasm – coupled with personal warmth and approachability.
  • Commitment to MTI goals and strategies for expanding programs.
  • Proven customer service skills and demonstrated work ethic.
  • Must be able to travel freely to and from the United States.
  • A genuinely international outlook, an ability to work in a diverse environment, and an exhibit of cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
  • Hands-on approach to academic delivery, customer service, and business growth.
  • Ability to work with the School Director and Program Directors for all programs to build and manage relationships with peers, senior managers, parents, and students from a range of linguistic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to collaborate with the School Director to deploy and manage resources and MTI operations effectively, with priority and time management.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and decision-making in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as well as analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
