Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and training, with experience in dog handling and pet behavior. This role involves working closely with dogs to improve obedience, socialization, and overall behavior, ensuring a safe and positive environment for both pets and their owners. The Dog Trainer will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for animals through effective training techniques and excellent customer service.

Duties

  • Conduct individual and group training sessions to teach dogs basic commands, behavioral modifications, and advanced skills
  • Assess each dog's temperament and develop customized training plans
  • Handle dogs safely using proper animal restraint techniques
  • Provide pet care services including grooming, sitting, and general animal handling as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized training area, ensuring safety protocols are followed
  • Educate pet owners on training methods, behavior management, and pet care best practices
  • Assist with kennel management and ensure animals are comfortable and well-cared-for during their stay
  • Heavy lifting of supplies or animals may be required occasionally to support daily operations

Skills

  • Proven experience in dog training and animal handling
  • Veterinary experience such as veterinary technician or assistant background is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of animal restraint techniques and pet care procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners
  • Ability to work with diverse animals including dogs of various breeds and temperaments
  • Pet grooming, pet sitting, or kennel experience is a plus
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine love for animals and their well-being
