Job Title: Café Line Cook / Kitchen Team Member – High-End Café

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kitchen Team Member to join our culinary team at our high-end café. This role requires a passion for food, an eye for presentation, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, refined environment. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing visually beautiful and consistently high-quality dishes while maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items with precision, ensuring each dish meets the café's standards for flavor, freshness, and presentation.
  • Maintain attention to detail in portioning, garnishing, and plating to deliver a refined and consistent guest experience.
  • Monitor food quality throughout prep and service, ensuring ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless communication and timely service.
  • Follow recipes and presentation guidelines precisely to maintain consistency across all dishes.
  • Work efficiently under pressure, managing multiple orders while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace, following all health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with prep work, including chopping, marinating, baking, and assembling ingredients.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate low inventory or product needs to management.
  • Support kitchen leadership in maintaining smooth operations during service, opening, and closing shifts.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a high-end café, restaurant, or culinary environment required.
  • Strong understanding of culinary techniques, flavor balance, and food presentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Positive, professional attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Food Handler Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform repetitive motions (chopping, stirring, plating).
  • Comfortable working in a hot kitchen environment with various equipment.

Compensation:

$17.50 per hour + tips (currently at $4.50/hr average)

Base Pay: From $17.50 per hour
