About Us
Symbolica is an AI research lab pioneering the application of category theory to enable logical reasoning in machines.
We're a well-resourced, nimble team of experts on a mission to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and cutting-edge technologies, creating symbolic reasoning models that think like humans – precise, logical, and interpretable. While others focus on scaling data-hungry neural networks, we're building AI that understands the structures of thought, not just patterns in data.
Our approach combines rigorous research with fast-paced, results-driven execution. We're reimagining the very foundations of intelligence while simultaneously developing product-focused machine learning models in a tight feedback loop, where research fuels application.
Founded in 2022, we've raised over $30M from leading Silicon Valley investors, including Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst, Abstract Ventures, and Day One Ventures, to push the boundaries of applying formal mathematics and logic to machine learning.
Our vision is to create AI systems that transform industries, empowering machines to solve humanity's most complex challenges with precision and insight. Join us to redefine the future of AI by turning groundbreaking ideas into reality.
About the role
Symbolica AI is hiring its first Technical Program Manager to lay the foundations of a new Program function. This role begins with a strong internal focus: helping our teams organise, prioritise, and execute the work needed to bring our product to a finalised and commercially ready state. As the product matures, the role will expand to leading end-to-end delivery to customers, defining how we deploy, onboard, and support organisations adopting Symbolica's technology. This is a rare opportunity to build a function from the ground up: designing processes, ways of working, and delivery frameworks that will scale with the company.
This is an onsite role based in our SF office (345 California St).
Key responsibilities
- Establish core planning, delivery, and deployment practices across engineering and product teams to drive the product toward customer-ready, scalable solutions.
- Build roadmaps, milestones, and communication rhythms that bring clarity, reduce ambiguity, and enable predictable execution across research and delivery workstreams.
- Implement and evolve hybrid delivery methodologies that balance experimentation with structured execution, continuously improving ways of working as Symbolica transitions from internal build to external delivery.
- Partner with leadership to define the end-to-end customer delivery model including onboarding workflows, implementation approaches, success metrics, support processes, and post-deployment support.
- Work closely with engineering leads to understand architectural considerations, technical dependencies, and system-level risks, defining operational readiness criteria, documentation standards, and release processes.
About you
- 5+ years as a Technical Program Manager in complex, deeply technical domains (e.g. AI/ML products, payments infrastructure, engineering product orgs, etc.), with the ability to understand complex tech and its implementation.
- Proven capability to take complex technical projects from concept to product-ready state, building the structures, processes, and delivery rhythms required for high-quality execution.
- Deep expertise in various sprint methodologies, with an ability to adapt them to high-uncertainty, research-heavy environments and lead all associated ceremonies effectively.
- Strong communicator able to translate between engineering, product, and leadership perspectives, facilitate technical decision-making, and surface risks clearly.
- Customer-oriented, collaborative, and proactive, with experience designing enterprise or technical delivery models and a motivation to build a high-performing Program function from the ground up.
We offer competitive compensation, including an attractive equity package, with salary and equity levels aligned to your experience and expertise.
Symbolica is an equal opportunities employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees, regardless of race, gender, age, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.
