San Antonio, Texas, United States Ensolum, LLC Full time $40,000 - $80,000 per year

Driven by People. Powered by Opportunity.

If you're looking for a company that believes in building leaders, you've come to the right place. At Ensolum, you'll sharpen your technical knowledge, learn to manage and oversee projects, develop your leadership skills, and be encouraged to innovate. And you'll do this while working alongside some of the best scientific and engineering experts in the industry.

We're hiring a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Inspector to work with our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for inspecting and monitoring construction sites, industrial facilities, or other regulated sites to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal stormwater pollution control regulations. This includes the review and implementation of SWPPP documents, ensuring proper erosion control measures are in place, and performing regular inspections to identify potential stormwater-related issues. The role requires knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, particularly the Clean Water Act, and the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES). The SWPPP Inspector will play a key role in maintaining site compliance, protecting water quality, and preventing environmental damage due to stormwater runoff. Interested? Keep reading.

Responsibilities

As SWPPP Inspector at Ensolum, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, and they will typically include:

  • Inspect erosion control measures (e.g., silt fences, sediment basins, and stormwater management systems).
  • Verify that Best Management Practices (BMPs) are being implemented and maintained effectively.
  • Ensure proper installation and functioning of stormwater controls (e.g., sediment traps, stormwater drains, and temporary stabilization measures).
  • Identify areas of concern where improvements are needed and document deficiencies.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Complete inspection reports for each site visit, noting compliance status and corrective actions needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and corrective actions taken.
  • Prepare detailed reports for project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Assist in preparing required regulatory documentation for TPDES and local agencies.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to stormwater pollution prevention, including TPDES and the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
  • Review and approve SWPPP documents, plans, and updates.
  • Ensure compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements.

Communication and Coordination

  • Serve as the point of contact for contractors, site managers, and other stakeholders regarding stormwater management issues.
  • Collaborate with the environmental team to address compliance issues, and recommend corrective measures as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on stormwater regulations and BMPs.

Maintenance and Corrective Action

  • Monitor the status of erosion control measures, especially after rainfall events.
  • Ensure that temporary or permanent stabilization measures are applied as needed.
  • Respond promptly to violations or issues and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance.

Field Work

  • Perform physical site assessments, sometimes in harsh weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary and follow safety protocols.
  • Gaining knowledge and understanding of pertinent rules and regulations.
  • Operating and maintaining field equipment and instrumentation
  • Interfacing with client and subcontractor site personnel, regulators, and property owners
