We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to lead our Political Action Committee (PAC) operations and support our federal and state Government Relations efforts. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the PAC, driving employee engagement and growth, and ensuring full compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in PAC development and government affairs, with proven experience in managing compliance filings, coordinating with legal and policy consultants, and representing the organization at political events. This position also plays a key role in supporting strategic initiatives that strengthen our relationships with elected officials, regulators, and policymakers.
Political Action Committee Management:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Political Action Committee (PAC)
- Develop and execute plan to solicit all eligible employees to grow the PAC
- Develop PAC presentation materials
- Produce and distribute a monthly PAC newsletter
Compliance:
- Manage all compliance for the Government Relations function in the United States including, but not limited to, filings for: Lobbying Disclosure Reports for company, Political Action Committee FEC reports, tax filings, audits, voluntary disclosure reports, etc.
- Continuously ensure compliance in all PAC solicitations
- Manage consultancies and law firms associated with PAC and lobbying compliance
Government Affairs Engagement:
- Provide support to the Managing Director of Government Relations in various GR efforts as necessary
- Represent Nelnet PAC at political events (may require some travel)
- Initiate and manage special projects that impact the company's relationship with elected officials, regulators, policymakers, etc.
Successful applicant will have…
- At least 3 years of experience of PAC and government relations or policy experience, specifically building, strengthening, and growing a PAC (corporation, trade association, nonprofit organization, or federal campaign)
- Strong project-management and organizational skills
- Exceptional writing and research skills
- Experience engaging diverse audiences, including senior executives
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team in a dynamic, open and creative environment.
- The capability to handle sensitive information and complex issues with discretion and good judgment.
Salary for this role is: $90,000
