The IT department delivers essential technical support and expertise that enables staff to effectively carry out their oversight responsibilities within New Mexico's insurance industry. How does it get done?

The Senior IT Developer will be responsible for planning, designing, and developing high-level web-based applications with SQL database back-ends. They will independently manage all phases of the development lifecycle, including system analysis, database and application design, development, testing, and implementation, within established project timelines. Key responsibilities include developing and executing testing plans, meeting with internal customers to define business requirements and workflows, administering all facets of Jira, and overseeing WordPress websites and plug-ins. Additionally, they will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and managing stored procedures; documenting code, processes, and technical specifications; providing technical support and mentorship; and implementing and monitoring best security practices to ensure the integrity, performance, and reliability of all developed applications.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and three (3) years of experience in software programming. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess a valid New Mexico Driver's license, a current defensive driving course certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass Defensive Driving Course Certificate within six months of the date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

The position involves primarily office-based work with extensive computer and phone use, long periods of sitting, and occasional physical activity such as standing, bending, or lifting 35 or more pounds. Exposure to dust, noise, and cramped spaces may occur. Occasional travel and work outside regular business hours (8:00am¿5:00pm, Monday¿ Friday) may be required, with compensation time or flex time provided.
