Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control practices, and chairside assisting techniques. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as required, adhering to safety standards.
- Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Manage patient flow and provide excellent customer service at the front desk as a dental receptionist when needed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including medical records and coding as necessary.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures related to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and medical imaging.
- Experience with chairside assisting techniques and aseptic techniques in a dental clinic setting.
- Familiarity with infection control practices and regulations to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to take accurate vital signs and understand basic medical terminology related to dentistry.
- Experience using 3D scanners for imaging purposes is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
