Join ORBCOMM as an AI Automation Engineer and help build the intelligent automation infrastructure that powers our operations. This is a technical role where you'll design and implement sophisticated AI agent systems, create reusable automation components, and solve complex technical challenges across the organization.
Working at the intersection of software engineering and AI, you'll architect solutions that handle multi-step workflows, integrate diverse systems, and scale across the enterprise. You'll have the flexibility to use code, low-code, or no-code tools—whatever best solves the problem—while focusing on building robust, maintainable automation infrastructure.

What You'll Do:
- Workflow Analysis & Discovery:Partner with teams across ORBCOMM to map existing processes,identifyinefficiencies, and uncover high-impact automation opportunities in operations, customer service, engineering, finance, and beyond.
- Build AI Agent Systems:Design and implement sophisticated agentic AI solutions using frameworks likeLangChain,AutoGen,CrewAI, or custom architectures—systems that can reason, make decisions, and execute complex multi-step workflows.
- Develop Automation Infrastructure:Create reusable components, libraries, and frameworks that enable scaling automation across the organization. Build tools that empower others to implement automation.
- System Architecture & Integration:Design technical architectures for complex automation workflows. Connect AI agents with business systems including Salesforce, ServiceNow, databases, APIs, and custom applications.
- Choose the Right Tools:Implement solutions pragmatically—use code (Python, JavaScript, APIs) for complex requirements, low-code platforms (Power Automate, n8n) for rapid development, or no-code tools (Zapier, ) whenappropriate.
- Leverage LLMs & GenAI:Deploy and integrate ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and other AI models into automation workflows. Build intelligent assistants and decision-making systems.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders:Partner with business teams and the AI Automation Business Specialist to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and ensure successful implementation.
- Technical Excellence:Write clean, maintainable code. Implement proper error handling, logging, and monitoring. Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and performant.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:Document technical architectures, create developer guides, and share best practices with the team.
- Innovation & Experimentation:Stay current with emerging AI frameworks and tools. Prototype new capabilities and push the boundaries ofwhat'spossible with intelligent automation.
Who You Are:
You're a technically minded problem-solver who loves building systems that work. You're comfortable with code and technical complexity, but pragmatic enough to choose the simplest solution that solves the problem. If you have:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (0-2 years of experience)
- Programming experience in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
- Understanding of APIs, webhooks, and system integration patterns
- Experience designing, mapping, or automating workflows (academic projects, internships, or professional experience)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to break down complex processes andidentifyoptimization opportunities
- Excellent communication skills—can explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and vice versa
- Demonstrated initiative and self-learning capability
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting skills
- Passion for automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity.
- Commitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy.
