About the role:
We are seeking a skilled software engineer to join our platform team, focusing on the development and maintenance of LangSmith's SDKs in various programming languages, most notably TypeScript and Python. This role is critical in enabling developers and businesses to seamlessly interact programmatically with LangSmith and future products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, API and interface design, and cross-language SDK development.

What you will do:

  • Create interfaces and abstractions that allow customers to log traces and run evaluations with LangSmith. Integrate with popular SDKs (such as OpenAI and Claude Code)
  • Design, develop, and maintain SDKs for the LangSmith platform in multiple programming languages (Python and Typescript currently, Java and Go in the future)
  • Work closely with rest of the platform engineering team to ensure SDKs are aligned with the latest platform features and API updates.
  • Work with documentation team to create developer-friendly documentation and guides for each SDK.
  • Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure SDK reliability and performance across all supported languages and platforms.
  • Provide technical support to developers using the SDKs, helping troubleshoot and resolve integration issues.
  • Stay abreast of new programming languages and development trends, ensuring LangSmith remains at the forefront of technology integration capabilities.

About you:

  • Proven experience in software development with a strong portfolio of projects demonstrating expertise in multiple programming languages, especially Python and TypeScript
  • Experience with SDK design and API development and best practices in API consumption
  • Strong understanding of different programming paradigms and dev environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Git, continuous integration
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field or equivalent industry experience
  • Start-up DNA -the ability to thrive in fast-paced, unstructured environments
