Job Description
We are looking for a skilled engineer to join our Austin Downtown team Our Night Engineer - Class 2 is here to maintain hotel equipment, rooms, inventory and guest service. The operating engineer will ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained hotel environment.
This position would be 2nd shift (2:30pm-11:00pm) and two overnight (11pm-7am).

Responsibilities

  • Complete Equipment preventative maintenance as assigned by engineering management.
  • Be able to work side by side and accept training and feedback from Class 1 engineers.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills on minor equipment, public areas and guest room issues.
  • Maintain and repair all items in guestrooms and public areas
  • Receive direction from engineering management on daily assignments or projects and complete within the time and manner specified or in accordance with hotel needs.
  • Receive direction for house calls via radio and respond promptly and appropriately.
  • Ability to properly prioritize workload in a dynamic environment.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs and learn while helping with those repairs.
  • Understand and be able to receive and update work requests from the work request system (Synergy).
  • Complete appropriate documents and logs for work assigned on a daily basis.
  • Understand how to detect trends that indicate developing issues.
  • Embrace all learning and training opportunities.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotel rules and regulations.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the importance of Lock out Tag out, the dangers of arc flashes and other precautions that need to be taken around equipment.
  • Clean all work areas after completing a job.
  • Maintain engineering shops in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintain engineering parts and supplies inventory.
  • Provide support to Class III engineering personnel when needed.
  • Hours for this position are Part Time, 2 nights a week from 10:30pm-7:00am.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Prior maintenance/engineering experience required.
  • Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. Be the knowledgeable "specialist" in at least 1 area.
  • Must posses at least 1 certification that is applicable to b uilding maintenance.
  • Must be familiar with all common guest requests and how to resolve them.
  • Must understand how to obtain trend information for issues and perform a trend analysis.
  • Be able to fully understand, read and write in the English language.
  • Must be comfortable with physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to walking, standing, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling for duration of shift.
  • Must be comfortable with normal office conditions and extreme weather conditions.
  • Must have a universal EPA certificate.
  • Able to work weekends, have a flexible schedule.
