Under direction of the Assistant Lead Planner Scheduler, plans, organizes, and schedules routine and major maintenance and construction as related to mechanical activities at hydroelectric generating and pumping plants and facilities, including aqueducts, reservoirs, canals, pipelines, dams, spillways, checks sites, roadways, tunnels, and other such civil features within a field division. Work is onsite to support the State Water Project. Must be available for off-peak operations, maintenance, and emergency repairs which may require driving a vehicle on public roads throughout the field division. Provide training and oversight of apprentices in safe work practices and practical hands-on experience. Position is designated safety sensitive and subject to substance abuse testing.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Journeyman level Pumping/Generation Plant Experience, i.e. experience with installation, maintenance, and repairs of electrical equipment used in hydroelectric generating and pumping plants, and/or associated facilities. Experience with maintenance of hydraulic turbines, pumps, and generators; auxiliary equipment including but not limited to air compressors, auxiliary generators, sewage ejectors, governors, intakes, hydraulic power units, high- and low-pressure water, oil, air and grease systems, cranes, hoists, and gates. Experience with Clearance Placement (Lock-out-tag-out) for ensuring the personnel safety of oneself and others. Knowledge of training in mechanical safety & Maintenance, hazard identification, and mitigation. Experience planning and scheduling maintenance and construction projects. Knowledge of regulatory/environmental water delivery needs. Experience as a foreman or other leadership experience. Experience coordinating mechanical/electrical jobs, thereby managing subordinates, securing supplies, contacting vendors, etc. Experience using computer software (SAP, Excel, Project, Office, SharePoint, Mobility, etc.). Experience in welding fabrication, machining, and pipe fitting.
