What You'll Do: As the Policy Accounting Audit Specialist you are responsible for the accounting support functions within Life Operations; primarily suspense account management. In this role you also will perform accounting research for Life Operations; and escheat reporting for Farm Bureau Life Greenfields Life, and Equitrust Life. The Policy Accounting Audi Specialist will advise and respond to inquiries from all areas of life operations on accounting questions and communicate information and problem resolutions to internal customers. Additional responsibilities include:
- Oversee the suspense management process for Life Operations.
- Perform and prepare quarterly account reconciliations.
- Prepare and facilitate monthly suspense account update meetings.
- Identify systemic issues with systems, processes, or procedures and escalate as appropriate.
- Review procedures for audit issues and assist internal auditors with respect to audits of the life companies.
- Perform accounting research for Life Operations staff and Corporate Accounting.
What It Takes to Join Our Team:
- College degree or equivalent plus one year of relevant experience required. Life, annuity and insurance accounting experience preferred.
- Accounting background preferred.
- Strong Excel skills required. Must have or be able to attain system knowledge (SAP and Life Administration Systems)
- Math/systems/problem solving/analytical skills required.
- Participation in professional designation(s) of Life Office Management Association.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in addition to facilitation skills.
- Ability to write, speak and read the English language.
