Operation Manager

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for an Operations Manager opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.

Position Summary

We are seeking a results-driven and strategic Operations Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations for a high-precision industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear sector. This role is responsible for overseeing production, scheduling, resource planning, and cross-functional coordination to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex manufacturing programs in highly regulated environments and a strong understanding of NQA-1 and DOE/NRC requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and execution
• Ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards (NQA-1), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with engineering, quality, supply chain, and program management to meet project milestones and deliverables
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality
• Oversee staffing, training, and performance management of production teams
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare operational reports for senior leadership
• Support audits, inspections, and customer reviews with accurate documentation and operational transparency
• Manage budgets, resource allocation, and capital equipment planning
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Experience in the nuclear, aerospace, or defense industries
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications
• Strong knowledge of NQA-1, DOE, and NRC regulatory frameworks
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex production schedules
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or Operations
• Experience with complex systems or high-speed rotating equipment
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production control tools
• Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated projects

Other Job Requirements:

• United States Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.
