This position may be a Licensed or Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Nurse Assistant. The assistant supports the school nurse in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of all students. The LNA helps maintain an efficient and caring health office and provides direct care to students under the supervision of the school nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the school nurse with daily health office operations.
- Provide basic first aid and routine care to students (e.g., minor injuries, headaches, stomachaches).
- Support students with chronic health needs according to their care plans (e.g., diabetes, asthma).
- Monitor students who come to the health office and document visits accurately.
- Help manage student medications under the direction of the school nurse.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper supply levels in the health office.
- Assist with health screenings as needed.
- Communicate with staff, families, and the school nurse regarding student health concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all school health policies and procedures.
