DISPATCHER

Job Functions:

  • Work with Contractors on their orders by generating delivery tickets with appropriate delivery information and invoices.
  • Receive phone orders, keep record of orders, and gather information needed for deliveries.
  • Schedule deliveries and pick-ups of aggregate materials.
  • Strives to meet customer expectations without exception and achieve highly positive customer satisfaction survey results consistent with strategic objectives.
  • Must be comfortable working in a small office environment where there is a strong emphasis on compatibility and teamwork.
  • Enter order information into the computer, continually monitor demand, dispatch delivery trucks, and verify each load.
  • Prepare various reports and assist in contacting customers in problem resolution.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Set clear expectations, provide day-to-day supervision, and coach team members to ensure high performance and accountability.

Job Knowledge:

  • Background in aggregate/stone materials is a plus.
  • Experience in managing a busy daily environment that demands quick and appropriate judgment and responses. This includes skillfully dealing with large customer expectations.
  • High degree of computer literacy and navigation, as well as a strong working knowledge of local geography and efficient travel routes.
  • Because a dispatcher interacts with the client to address any concerns or route changes, some customer service experience is helpful. The ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and understand what actions to take to bring resolution.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-5 years experience.
  • Basic knowledge of landscape / aggregate industry.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent public relations and communication skills.
  • Higher education preferred, not required.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Logistics experience.
  • Must have good organization skills, phone skills, listening skills and handwriting.
  • Willing to work various hours and some weekends.
