Responsibilities

  • Safely operate trucks with manual transmissions and other specialized equipment across diverse routes
  • Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper handling and securement
  • Drive route-specific vehicles including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and tractor-trailers to deliver goods promptly
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, cleanliness, and compliance with regulations
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in accordance with federal and state laws
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules, route adjustments, or any issues encountered during transit
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and traffic laws to ensure personal safety and that of others on the road

Skills

  • Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on freight delivery across various vehicle types such as flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers
  • Strong knowledge of route planning and route driving best practices for efficiency and safety
  • Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle specialized equipment like forklifts when necessary
  • Familiarity with load & unload procedures for different cargo types, including hazardous materials if applicable
  • Excellent driving record with a thorough understanding of commercial driving regulations and safety standards
  • Physical stamina to load/unload freight manually or with equipment; ability to lift heavy items when required
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or routes while maintaining high safety standards
