The Bronzeville Group is seeking an experienced Engagement Manager (EM) with a strong healthcare consulting background and a passion for value-based care transformation. The ideal candidate has experience at a leading strategy consulting firm and brings a strong track record of delivering high-quality client work. The EM role is a senior position and a pathway to Partner, responsible for leading multiple workstreams, developing thought leadership, and managing both client relationships and case teams. EMs oversee the formulation and implementation of equity-centered strategies that improve client performance and outcomes. Periodic travel may be required depending on client needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CASE TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Identify and frame critical strategic and organizational client issues.
  • Lead multiple workstreams using structured, hypothesis-driven problem-solving.
  • Develop and manage detailed team workplans ensuring high-quality, data-driven analysis and implementation-ready deliverables.
  • Provide operational leadership balancing execution excellence with team development.
  • Lead quantitative and qualitative analysis and deliverable creation.
  • A hands-on leader who can both manage teams and execute analyses directly when needed.
  • Manage the professional development of junior team members through coaching and feedback.

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

  • Build and maintain trusted senior-level relationships.
  • Facilitate effective client decision-making using strong communication, executive presence, and narrative storytelling.
  • Guide clients through strategic, operational, and financial considerations.
  • Navigate sensitive situations with diplomacy and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Develop "above and beyond" advisory relationships that extend past immediate
  • project needs.

FIRM CONTRIBUTION

  • Lead and contribute to firm-building initiatives, including recruiting.
  • Develop and share insights and knowledge capital derived from case work.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in performance review processes.
  • Contribute to TBG's thought leadership, research, and knowledge development.
  • Support firm culture through participation in events, community service, and internal initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must demonstrate outstanding emotional intelligence (EQ) and communication skills, this is essential, along with strong stakeholder management and project leadership.
  • Minimum of 4 years of consulting experience with demonstrated career progression, project management, and client engagement experience.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector (payer, provider, and/or value-based care).
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing and developing team members.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstration project experience with value-based care for underserved and/or older adult populations.
  • Postgraduate degree (i.e. MBA, MHSA, MHA, MPA) preferred but not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & REMOTE POLICY

TBG operates in a hybrid work environment combining remote work with in-person collaboration. While the role offers flexibility, Chicago is the preferred location due to the frequency of client engagements, team collaboration, and in-person strategy sessions. Employees should expect periodic on-site meetings, workshops, and client visits as required by project needs.

COMPENSATION

This role is structured to begin on a part-time basis, with a clear pathway to transition into a full-time position based on mutual fit and business needs. Competitive compensation is offered, including a base salary starting in the $140K range for full-time candidates, along with bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. Periodic travel may be required based on client needs.
