Job Description
North America Test Engineering Manager to lead a team of Test Engineers, overseeing the strategy, development, and execution of product testing to ensure quality. This role involves managing staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation. It also includes collaborating with other departments to define testing strategies, create test plans, and manage The North America Test Engineering Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the overall strategy, development, and execution of product testing to ensure the highest quality standards. This role encompasses comprehensive staff management, including the hiring of top talent, providing ongoing training, and conducting thorough performance evaluations to foster a high-performing team.
The Manager will collaborate extensively with cross-functional departments such as R&D, product management, and manufacturing to define robust testing strategies, create detailed test plans, and efficiently manage resources. This is crucial for ensuring projects are completed on-time and within budget. A key aspect of the role involves the management of test environments and tools, alongside a continuous drive to improve test processes and methodologies. Furthermore, the Manager will provide strong technical leadership and mentorship to the team, guiding them in best practices and problem-solving.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive test engineering strategy aligned with overall business objectives and product roadmaps.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Test Engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high productivity. This includes hiring, training, performance reviews, and career pathing.
Test Process Management: Oversee the entire product testing lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test plan creation to execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, design, and manufacturing teams to integrate testing activities seamlessly into the product development process.
Resource Management: Allocate and manage testing resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget, to optimize project timelines and costs.
Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain high standards for product quality and reliability through effective testing methodologies.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential testing risks and challenges.
Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports on testing progress, issues, and overall product quality to senior management.
Continuously finds methods to improve efficiency metrics for the team (on-time delivery, cost, quality).
Researches and implements new testing technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance test coverage and effectiveness.
Drives continuous improvement initiatives within the test engineering function.
Coordinates resources and tasks to meet overall group objectives and priorities.
Monitors achievements and costs, and removes barriers to group's success.
Manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring clear communication and timely completion.
Develops and maintains detailed project schedules and milestones.
Strong background in LabView Development Experience.
In-depth Knowledge in Hardware and RF testing principles and applications.
Extensive Programming experience in C, C#, and C++.
Proven experience in managing and leading technical teams.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with various testing methodologies (e.g., agile, waterfall) and test automation frameworks.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Minimum of X years of experience in test engineering, with X years in a leadership or management role. (Please insert specific numbers for X)
Demonstrated experience with product development life cycles and quality assurance processes resources to ensure on-time and within-budget project completion. Target Base Salary Range: $120,300 - $240,600
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
