We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Chiropractic Assistant/ Receptionist to join our healthcare team In this vital role, you will serve as the frontline support for our chiropractic practitioners, ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient care. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify their appointments, and assist with check-in procedures using various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks.
- Manage patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories, updating personal information, and explaining clinic procedures clearly.
- Assist chiropractors during patient examinations and treatment sessions by preparing treatment rooms, handling chiropractic equipment, and ensuring all supplies are stocked and sanitized.
- Document patient visits accurately by reviewing documentation, updating care plans, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for health information security.
- Perform medical billing tasks including insurance verification, coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and submitting claims via systems like Athenahealth or Dentrix.
- Handle appointment scheduling efficiently through multi-line phone systems while maintaining excellent phone etiquette and providing exceptional patient service.
- Maintain organized medical records by filing documents properly, managing electronic files in EMR systems, and ensuring all documentation review processes are completed thoroughly.
- Support administrative duties such as answering inquiries, managing front desk operations, processing payments, and performing clerical tasks like data entry with high accuracy using Microsoft Office tools.
- Assist with insurance claims processing related to Medicare or other providers to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Uphold confidentiality standards under HIPAA guidelines while managing sensitive health information and supporting health information management practices.
- Collaborate with the team on office management tasks including inventory control of chiropractic supplies and maintaining a clean, professional clinic environment.
Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish/ English, (Haitian Creole)
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or chiropractic clinic is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology or hospital experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is essential.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry accuracy (10 key typing).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette for handling multi-line phone systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills for filing, documentation review, insurance verification, and office management tasks.
- Prior experience in medical administrative support or front desk roles within clinics or dental offices will be advantageous.
