What You Will Work On
The Render Technician Assistant ensures reliable execution of rendering outputs/workflows across internal and vendor pipelines, supporting production timelines and asset integrity. This role manages render queue operations, ingests finalized vendor CMG assets, and oversees file publishing with precision. Enabling traceability, QC readiness, and delivery alignment across Studio needs.

Core Responsibilities
Render Queue Management

  • Monitor, prioritize, and troubleshoot render jobs using Deadline and other render farm tools
  • Ensure timely delivery of outputs for production and QC checkpoints
  • Escalate failed jobs and optimize render settings for performance and consistency

Pipeline Coordination

  • Align render schedules with task assignments and production timelines
  • Maintain documentation of render workflows, naming conventions, and output directories

Asset Validation & File Integrity

  • Confirm visual fidelity, file formats, resolution specs, and metadata compliance
  • Ensure assets are versioned, tagged, and stored according to governance standards

File Transfer & Archival Management

  • Manage internal and external file transfers
  • Publish completed renders and maintain backup protocols aligned with Studio governance

QC Prep & Review Support

  • Prepare render outputs for review sessions (labeling, playlist creation, annotations)
  • Flag visual inconsistencies or render artifacts for producer follow-up

Vendor Asset Ingest & Render Execution

  • Vendor CMG Asset Ingestion & Kickoff
  • Ingest finalized vendor-delivered CMG assets into the render pipeline
  • Configure render settings and kick off jobs to the farm
  • Monitor queue status and ensure files are published and available for check-in

Render Output Logging & Delivery Tracking

  • Track render parameters, contributor info, and output locations Flag discrepancies or missing components in vendor deliveries and coordinate resolution

Secondary Responsibilities
Asset Support for Producers & Artists

  • Gather supporting assets (reference imagery, textures, geometry, caches) for asset creation and QC needs
  • Organize asset libraries and support lineage tracking for onboarding and audit readiness
  • Assist produces in gathering and distributing reference & support files as needed

QC Prep & Review Support

  • Prepare render outputs for review sessions (labeling, playlist creation, annotations)
  • Flag visual inconsistencies or render artifacts for producer follow-up

Tools & Technical Proficiency Basic understanding of some or all of the following tools would be beneficial for this role

  • Unreal Engine Used for ingesting CMG assets, launching renders, and managing output publishing within the pipeline
  • Deadline Core tool for render queue management, job prioritization, and troubleshooting across the farm
  • Blender Supports asset validation, geometry prep, launch render jobs, and resolving compatibility issues during render setup
  • Autodesk Flow / ShotGrid Enables task tracking, asset delivery coordination, and review session setup
  • Miro / Confluence / Slack Used for documenting workflows, sharing updates, and maintaining cross-functional alignment
  • Automation & Scripting Support Writing basic scripts (Python, Deadline APIs) to automate repetitive tasks

Optional Expansion Areas

  • Render Performance Optimization Profiling render times, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing pipeline improvements to increase efficiency
  • Cross-Functional Training & SOPs Creating quick-start guides, best practices, or SOPs to help producers and artists interact effectively with the render pipeline
  • Asset Prep & Compatibility Support Supporting teams with asset validation, format conversion, and compatibility checks to reduce render failures and improve throughput
  • Automation & Scripting Support May assist with light scripting (e.g., Python, Deadline APIs) to automate repetitive tasks or streamline render workflows, if skillset allows)
