Position Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly reporting packages, and supporting audits and compliance across RENU's expanding portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and takes pride in precision, process improvement, and ownership of their work.

The ideal candidate has strong general ledger experience, understands property-level accounting, and is eager to partner cross-functionally with Operations and Corporate leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Support the monthly close process to ensure accurate and timely reporting across multiple entities.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity, including intercompany eliminations and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation of internal financial statements and variance analysis.
  • Review property-level financials in collaboration with Operations and Asset Management teams.
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms during annual audits and tax filings.
  • Support process improvements within accounting systems and workflows.
  • Assist in implementing automation or reporting enhancements within AppFolio and other integrated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5–7 years of accounting experience; property management or real estate industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software; experience with AppFolio a plus.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills.
