OverviewThe 5 West Medical Surgical Department at St. Anthony North Hospital, an achieved Magnet Hospital, is a dynamic 30-bed unit that cares for a diverse population of medical-surgical, cardiac, and neurological patients. Common diagnoses include chronic disease exacerbations such as diabetes, heart failure, and COPD, acute conditions like infections and gastrointestinal disorders, and pre-and post-operative care for orthopedic, abdominal, and general surgeries. 5 West appeals to anyone interested in broadening their skillset as we receive overflow from anywhere in the hospital, provided they meet unit criteria. As an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) you will be responsible for developing, achieving and maintaining the goals of a unit or department by focusing on the unit or department's daily operations.Essential functions to the success of this role include:
- Consistently promote a positive & healthy work environment by being visible and available to all levels of staff and customers.
- Collaboratively work with nurse leaders in maintaining productivity, supporting initiatives, and ensuring units/departments are appropriately staffed.
- Assist in identifying staff development needs with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
- Daily productivity and expense management and support unit/department manager with budget preparation.
- Focus on patient safety, patient experience, and performance improvement in alignment with unit/department goals.
- Encourage employee participation in decision through shared governance and support change management.
- Support professional development to improve employee retention.
In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified Assistant Nurse Manager candidates will need the following:
- 2 years clinical RN experience
- 6 months - 1 year clinical leadership experience, preferred
- A degree in nursing (BSN or MSN)
- Current RN License to practice in state of employment
- Life Support Certifications per Department Standards; e.g. NRP, EFM, TNCC, etc.
- Nursing Specialty Certification:
- Required to sit for certification within 6 months of hire/transfer
- Must achieve certification within 2 years of hire/transfer into this role
Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
