team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn power Microsoft's cloud business. We anticipate and provide capacity for continuous scale. The
CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE)
delivers services, applications, and automation supporting datacenter planning, construction, and operation. We own a large portfolio of services, including workflows that enable predicable, lowest cost datacenter construction, telemetry systems that drive high availability and optimized energy usage, and task and performance management applications that help our operation run as efficiently as possible.

We are hiring a
Software Engineer I
to help deliver an enterprise-grade computerized maintenance and management system (CMMS) for our cloud data center teams. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, program managers, and other software engineers to deliver robust, high-performing, mission-critical solutions that ensure Microsoft meets availability and resiliency obligations for our cloud customers We are looking for a passionate, innovative, high energy individual contributor to develop front-end applications and back-end services to support critical business functions and delivering CMMS capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Writing high quality, maintainable, reusable code following SOLID principles.
- Collaborating with and demonstrating features developed to stakeholders in an Agile environment.
- Resolving complex system integration challenges and working with other members of the team and external teams.
- Sharing learnings and code assets developed with the CO+I engineering team.
- Leveraging experience of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seek new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, JavaScript
OR equivalent experience.
Background Check Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, JavaScript
OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, JavaScript
OR equivalent experience.
Experience in React and/or Angular frameworks.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
